We can remark that, because these edges will be folded during torsion around cylindrical surfaces of different radii (OA and ON, respectively), the resulted helixes will present different lengths (LNNLAA). The above-presented aspects concerning the effects of torsion in the axial direction of non-circular bars can lead to the following conclusions: The modification of the length of bar edges during torsion and the differences in length resulted between the generated helixes indicate and determine the development of axial deformations and stresses in the twisted non-circular bars. 3.2. Remark The aspects relating to the generation and distribution of the axial stresses in the round bars twisted over the yield limit of material are analyzed in[7]. The analysis proves that the axial stresses can be tensile or compressive depending on temperature and material properties. The main cause that determines the appearance of the compressive stresses is attributed to grains deformation, which has a maximum intensity at low temperatures and at the beginning of the deforming process. The slipping of the grains, which has a maximum intensity at high temperatures and at the end of the deforming process is considered the cause that determines the appearance of the tensile stresses. The opposite tendencies manifested between the outer and inner regions of a non-circular bar indicate the generation of two opposite axial stresses in these two regions: tensile in the peripheral region and compressive in the region from the neutral axis. The differences in length resulted between the deformed longitudinal edges from the outer surface of bar and the variation of their elongation as a function of their position in comparison with the neutral axis of bar can explain the warping of the non-circular sections. The main aspects concerning the shearing stress variation emphasized by the above-presented analysis are as follows: on the cross-section of twisted non-circular bars only shearing stresses will occur and act; these stresses will determine a state of pure shear. the variation of the shearing stresses depends, generally, on the cross-section shape; thus: in the case of an elliptic section, the shearing stresses resultant has a constant direction that is parallel to the direction of the tangent to the boundary where it is cited by the considered radius; in the points of a given diameter the stresses resultant has a linear increase as we move away from its origin. in the case of rectangular, square and triangular sections the variation of the shearing stresses is non-linear on all the directions and depends on the section shape and dimensions. the shearing stress vector attains its maximum value on the contour of cross-section indifferently of its shape; the maximum intensity of the shearing stress vector will be reached in different points of the contour as a function of cross-section shape and dimensions; thus: in the case of an elliptic section, the maximum shearing stress will occurs at the extremities of the minor axis of the ellipse; in the case of a rectangular bar the maximum shearing stress is reached at the midpoints of the longest sides; in the case of an equilateral triangle the maximum shearing stress will occur at the midpoints of the triangle sides. Generally, the shearing stress decrease in the sense of displacement from the outer contour of cross-section to neutral axis and reach the zero value in the point located on the neutral axis. But, as a function of cross-section shape, the zero value of the shearing stress can be also reached and in other points of the cross-section. Conclusions The general theory of elastic or plastic torsion, when discusses about the state of stresses generated by torsion in the twisted bar, take only into consideration the shearing stresses that occur on the cross-section. According to the above presented aspects and suppositions, the complete state of stresses generated by torsion in the twisted non-circular bars must consider not only the shearing stresses on the cross-sections but also axial stresses, compressive or tensile, on the longitudinal ones. These include retirement, the death of spouse and poor health. The association between social wellbeing and subjective wellbeing is more evident under such conditions. As older adults experience emotional turmoil, they long for emotional support and care. Positive changes in the size of the social network are what these individuals look forward to. Research highlights that social isolation and loneliness at this point of life are detrimental to the overall wellbeing of an individual (Ardelt, Gerlach and Vaillant 2017). Wong et al. (2014) argue that older age is related to a view of time being restricted. Therefore the life goals pertaining to emotional regulation are to be prioritised. SlaverySlavery in America stems well back to when the new world was firstdiscovered and was led by the country to start the African Slave Trade-Portugal. The African Slave Trade was first exploited for plantationsin that is now called the Caribbean, and eventually reached the southerncoasts of America (Slavery Two; Milton Meltzer). The African natives wereof all ages and sexes. Women usually worked in the homes, cooking andcleaning, whereas men were sent out into the plantations to farm. Younggirls would usually help in the house also and young boys would help inthe farm by bailing hay and loading wagons with crops. Since trying to capture the native Indians, the Arawaks and Caribs,failed (Small-Pox had killed them), the Europeans said out to captureAfrican slaves. They were shipped from Africa by the Europeans in what was calledThe Triangular Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. This was an organized routewhere Europeans would travel to Africa bringing manufactured goods,capture Africans and take them to the Caribbean, and then take the cropsand goods and bring them back to Europe. The African people, in order tocommunicate invented a language that was a mixture of all the Africanlanguages combined, called Creole. This language now varies from islandto island. They also kept their culture which accounts for calypso musicand the instruments used in these songs. Slavery was common all over the world until 1794 when France signedthe Act of the National Convention abolishing slavery. It would takeAmerica about a hundred years to do the same (Slavery Two; Milton Meltzer). George Washington was Americas hero. He was Americas firstpresident. He was a slave owner. He deplored slavery but did notrelease his slaves. His will stated that they would be released afterthe death of his wife (The Volume Library; 1988). Washington wasntthe only president to have slaves. Thomas Jefferson wrote, All menare created equal but died leaving his blacks in slavery. In 1775 black Americans were sent to fight in the revolutionaryarmy. The British proposed that if a black man was to join their army,they would be set free afterwards. America originally planned not to letthe blacks fight in the army, but when hearing this, let them enlist. Only Georgia and South Carolina refused to let them enlist, but paid fortheir racism when each lost 25,000 blacks to the British. The slavesreturned on an honourable discharge after securing Americas freedom,but not their own (Software Toolworks Encyclopedia; 1992). Slavery continued and so did the numbers of slaves trying to escapeto the free states or into Canada. A runaway slave would be found bybloodhounds, trained to find black slaves. Then the slave, upon returning,would be executed or severely whipped. The Underground Railroad was a project that helped black slavesescape into Canada, especially Amherstburg. The system involved 3,000white helpers and freed an estimated 75,000 people after the civil war. Slavery in the middle of the 1800s was abolished except for therebellion states in the south. By looking at the Population of the World today we have no problem communicating to some degree, but how do these rules change once you have clocked in for the day? I don’t believe the workplace creates a breakdown of how we talk to each other anymore but it depends on who you ask that question to. Would an older person agree with me or would the younger generation say ‘I can’t believe it use to be that way’. Although there is some disconnect with how men and women communicate in general, I believe the gap has been shortened due to men and women fulfilling roles that weren’t previously their responsibility. In the past thing were a whole lot different from these days. Women were more of the caretakers of the family. Men took care of the financial needs and occasionally doing the dirty work while women attended to more of the household needs . This was normal in my household because my mother didn’t work until I was about ten.
